The Top Cadillac Commercial Of All Time
The above video was just voted as Cadillac’s all-time best TV commercial by J.D. Power and Associates. It made its debut in 2015 as part of the ad campaign series, “Proving the New Standard”. In it, Cadillac, GMC’s luxury auto company division founded in 1902, showcases the CTS-V, one of its current flagship sedan models. The CTS, or Catera Touring Sedan comes in two models. The one seen on the advertisement is the -V model, which stands for velocity.
To be denominated a part in this V category, a Cadillac vehicle must meet several requirements. First, it has to have an excess of 400 HP (horse power), which if you ask me, makes for quite a large horse stable. Second, it must have a racetrack-tuned suspension to handle the g-forces experienced at high speeds while maintaining maneuverability. Lastly, it should have the signature V styling. Meaning that the car body is typically more aerodynamic and has other minor aesthetic qualities that differentiate it from regular models.
Due to these performance enhancements, Cadillac had to make a marketing campaign dedicated solely to introduce and explain these velocity centric models, which are essentially Cadillacs on steroids. So they inadvertently created what is now regarded as their best commercial, ever. If you haven’t watched it already, in the video they go on to explain the car’s prodigious statistics, instead of relating to a particular feeling or price points like many auto advertisements tend to focus on. They have an actor on a balance beam all throughout the video, a rather unique way to stress that the CTS-V has a “chassis that’s almost perfectly balanced, front to rear”. Another key unmentioned element of the ad is that the car is being driven on wet pavement, signaling that it is safe even on adverse rode conditions thanks to its “revolutionary dual-mode magnetic ride control.
